Any healthy adult, both male and female, can donate blood. Men once in every Three months and women every Four months. Good health of the donor must be fully ensured. The universally accepted criteria for donor selection are:
Pre-Donation Information
Eat a substantial meal not less than 1 hour and not more than four hours before donating. Also drink plenty of caffeine-free water-based fluids before and after donating. Avoid taking alcoholic beverages 24hours before donation.
Post Donation Information
Take rest. The rest period allows the body to adjust to the loss of blood in the system and for the blood transfusion service to ensure the bleeding has stopped before the donor leaves the donation area.
